The Magic 30 Tournament Grounds

Oct 21, 2022

You’ve said the magic words, “I’ll keep” and now the game is on! But before you can cast your first spell, there’s some info you’ll need to know in order to play in tournaments at Magic 30.

Online registration for tournaments will close Wednesday, October 26 at 5:00 PM PT. There will be limited on-demand events, so make sure you register well in advance of the deadline. To register, login to your GrowTix account or click the link from your original ticket purchase confirmation email. The full schedule of tournaments can be found here

If you purchased a badge for someone else, it is very important that you change the badge and accompanying tournaments to the correct name. Double check ‘Your Orders’ page to ensure your badges are assigned to each person in your party. If you have concerns or need help assigning your badges and tournaments, please email [email protected], or call 888-334-8702 or 203-840-5616.

The Tournament Area and The Command Zone are located in the back of the Show Floor at Magic 30 (see map). The Command Zone is limited to those with a Black Lotus VIP or Ruby VIP Commander badge only. However, there will be lots of free play areas throughout Magic 30 where you can challenge a friend (or foe!). Head on up to the 16th floor of Building B (WorldView Room) and find our Arena & Chill Area. A pop-up bar and specialty play tables await you and are available daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

On-demand tournaments will not be available after 7:00 PM Friday - Sunday. The Show Floor will close at 7:00 PM daily, and if you are not actively playing in a scheduled tournament or inside the Command Zone, you will need to exit the building at that time. If you are scheduled to play in an 8:00 PM or later tournament, please kindly exit the Show Floor and re-enter via the main entrance outside. You will need to show proof of your 8:00 PM or later tournament registration to re-enter the building.

If you purchased a scheduled tournament, you will need your event code and an up-to-date Wizards Account to participate. You will also need the MTG Companion App installed on your phone. Please download Companion for iOS or Companion for Android right from the App Store or Google Play.

For scheduled tournaments, you must join your event in the Companion App at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your event.

What is the Magic: The Gathering Companion App?
The Companion App is a phone app that players download to enter events, report results, check pairings, and more.

Players can download Companion for iOS or Companion for Android right from the App Store or Google Play.

How to use the Companion App?
The Magic: The Gathering Companion App allows you to easily join events from your phone. Just login into your Wizards Account or create one through the Companion App. Enter the code provided to you for your event at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your event and you are in!

Once you are in, the Companion App will send you your pairings on your mobile device. No more crowding around pairings boards. Record your match result directly, validate the results at any time, and keep track of standings as you play.

Enable push notifications to get alerts when the next round is about to begin so that you can grab food without worrying about missing a match!

Do I have to use a Wizards Account or can I use my DCI number to play?
You will need to have a Wizards Account to use the Companion app. If there are any issues please check with your event’s stage or at Tournament Information.

I’ve entered my code and the Companion App is telling me to check in with Registration. Where do I go?
Nowhere since you are already in the event! When your event is ready to start, you will receive a notification from the Companion App with your table number.
